The Bible teaches that local churches are to be guided and cared for by men called “pastors” who meet specific life and faith qualifications.
A Christian writer and pastor named John Piper has said that pastors are spiritual leaders who, “see where God wants people to be, and take the initiative to get them there by God’s means in reliance on God’s power.” In other words, pastors use the Bible as their tool and God’s power as their strength – rather than their own – to help people become like Jesus.
Pastors accomplish that by teaching the truth of the Bible, by living lives that show how that truth changes life, and by providing guidance, experience, and wisdom about truth and life.
Our pastors are eager to care for the members of Trinity Fellowship Church in those ways, and they would be happy to have the opportunity to also care for you.
Tim Shorey
Senior Pastor
Tim has been serving in full-time pastoral ministry in Ocean County, NJ, since 1982, and was a founding pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church in August 1990. He received his early Christian training from parents whose commitment to Christ was evident in personal godliness and in more than 50 years of missionary and pastoral ministry. His formal training for ministry was at Northeastern Bible College, formerly of Essex Falls, NJ.
As TFC's Senior Pastor, Tim serves as the church's primary teaching pastor. He also leads our Pastoral Team and Teaching Team in their ministry to the entire congregation. He oversees the vision development of the church and is committed to the nurturing of leadership to serve in the future of this church, and in the planting of others.
Tim is into New England sports, good food, and building things. He and his wife, Gayline, were married in 1978, and have six children and six grandchildren.
Tim Bowditch
Counseling and Family Life Pastor
Tim and his family joined Trinity Fellowship Church in February, 1991, seven months after the church was established. He has served on the Pastoral Team since November 1998. For over thirty years, Tim has worked for the judiciary of the State of New Jersey in various capacities, including crisis counseling and child support enforcement. This, together with Tim’s blessed family life, consistent study, and his completion of the two-year certificate program of the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation (CCEF) all strengthen his pastoral ministry within the church.
Tim serves TFC by devoting pastoral attention to our counseling and family life ministry. He is also involved in our care group ministry, general pastoral oversight, prison ministry and more. His ministry to our church has been extensive and diverse. He and his wife Pat have a present special focus on young couples, whom they are mentoring in marriage love and grace.
Tim enjoys good literature, dates with his wife, good friendship, and what he calls "gold": books by John Piper. He and Pat married in 1973 and have three grown children, two of whom are married.

In this capacity he oversees our care group ministry and our evangelism outreach events. He also serves in a variety of other roles to bless the body of Christ here.
Steve bleeds Yankees' blood, serves up some serious pasta, and loves to spend time with his family on the beach in the summer and skiing in the winter. He and his wife, Lisa, were married in 2000, and have three sons and one daughter.

He joined the pastoral team as an intern in November of 2008 and is now involved in developing adult education opportunities as well as visitation ministry and diaconal oversight. His love for solid Reformed teaching ministries was developed from childhood through godly parents and caring pastors. He has also completed TFC's Pursue course for developing church leadership and has served on the teaching team for several years.
Scott enjoys spending time with his family, loves the outdoors--especially fishing--and is a sports fan who is thoroughly enjoying the recent success of his Philadelphia Phillies.
